Developing A World Class Curriculum

A course designed to challenge your thinking and help you to design a unique, purposeful, exciting, curriculum for your school.

With the current focus on curriculum development and the impact of a broad, rich curriculum on outcomes for children, there has never been a better time to revisit and review what is working well in school and build upon those strengths.

This course will provide you with an opportunity to reflect on the research and current thinking about curriculum development, and how this impacts on the quality of provision in your school.

Drawing on her experience as a school improvement adviser, consultant and inspector, Ruth will share insights into effective curriculum design and provide support to help delegates shape their thinking.

I think it's good, but....

A course designed to help leaders with limited or no experience of Early Years understand the principles of EYFS and identify good practice.

Many curriculum, middle and senior leaders are anxious to ensure that they can identify best practice and speak knowledgably about the quality of education in their subject or curriculum area throughout the school.

Whilst most teachers are confident to talk about the KS1 and KS2 curriculum, for those who have never worked in EYFS this can be a daunting prospect.

This course is designed to give leaders the confidence and knowledge they need to identify good practice and support with curriculum development, to ensure that children get off to the best possible start in Early Years.

Ruth will share some key indicators of effective practice and support leaders to consider questions the might ask when supporting colleagues who work with the youngest children in school.

Whilst most leaders are confident to talk about the KS1 and KS2 curriculum, for those who have never worked in EYFS, speaking knowledgeably about the quality of education can be daunting.

This course is designed to give leaders at all levels the confidence and knowledge they need to identify good practice and support with curriculum development in EYFS and Mixed EY/ KS1 classes.

Drawing on her extensive experience of working in early years and beyond with schools all over the country, Ruth will share some key indicators of effective practice, and support leaders to consider questions they might ask when supporting colleagues working with the youngest children in school.

It's good to talk!

A two part training course which will support teachers to develop communication and language in primary classrooms.

“There is extensive research evidence to show that language skills are amongst the best predictors of educational success” (Snowling, 2011)

Yet all too often communication and language are not given the prominence they need.

This course will support staff to understand the importance of speaking and listening, based on high- quality research.

The course will run for 2 afternoons, and delegates can choose to attend just one session, or both.

Beyond Good - Exemplary Practice in EYFS

This course will draw upon the latest research evidence and a range of best practice, to support EYFS teachers and leaders to provide children with an exemplary start to their education.

We will explore the principles of effective teaching in Early Years and the latest research on memory and learning, incorporating the EYFS statutory framework and the Ofsted Education Inspection framework.

Ruth will draw upon her experience as a teacher with over 2 decades of experience in EYFS, Headteacher, Moderator, Inspector and Advisor to support teachers to reflect upon and improve their practice.
