Understanding Early Years for Subject Leaders in Smaller Schools

Many curriculum and middle leaders are anxious to ensure that they can identify best practice and speak knowledgably about the Quality of Education in their subject area throughout the school.

Whilst most leaders are confident to talk about the KS1 and KS2 curriculum, for those who have never worked in EYFS, speaking knowledgeably about the quality of education can be daunting.

This course is designed to give leaders, particularly in smaller schools, the confidence and knowledge they need to identify good practice and support with curriculum development in EYFS and Mixed EY/ KS1 classes.

Drawing on her extensive experience of working in and with mixed age classes, and with schools all over the country, Ruth will share some key indicators of effective practice, and support leaders to consider questions they might ask when supporting colleagues working with the youngest children in school.
